Zubiri: Types of Reason Abstract: One of the main features of Zubiri’s extended analysis of reason is his insistence on the very different ways in which different types of reasons work, that is, the emphasis he placed on the specific character of reasons. Nonetheless, examples of concrete kinds of reasoning are almost absent from his work. This article’s objective is to shed light on this topic, providing an elementary classification of the varieties of reason that is grounded in elements taken from the order of reasons. In this respect, the logical taxonomy of genera and species usually known as the tree of Porphyry is deployed. Plurality of reasons and variety of normative frameworks (each order of reasons is autonomous, no system of justification can be the rule according to which other systems are evaluated) are the main results. Key Words: Zubiri, Reason, Science, Art, Philosophy, Mind.
