THE HIDDEN CONTRAST IN FREUDIAN METAPSYCHOLOGY AS SIGN OF THE CONTEMPORARY DEBATE BETWEEN HUMANIST AND NATURALIST PARADIGMS Abstract: In this paper we start from the basic notions of Freudian metapsychology, with special attention to the underlying theory of sexuality, to show their twofold reception: the humanist comprehension and the naturalist interpretation. Emphasis will be given to the writings of the nineties in order to demonstrate how within them lies radicated the explicative key which Freud will develop, in different linguistic registers and argumentative modalities, throughout his intelectual production. This will offer us a foreshortening of the contemporary debate between humanist and naturalist paradigms in the context of philosophical anthropology. Keywords: Sigmund Freud, metapsychology, naturalism, neurophysiology, philosophical anthropology, sexuality.
