AESTHETIC PURPOSIVENESS AND ITS SYSTEMATIC MEANING IN THE CRITIQUE OF JUDGEMENT OF KANT Abstract: This article focuses, in the first place, on the division of aesthetic purposiveness regarding practical purposiveness. In the second place, it studies the contribution of aesthetic purposiveness to the systematic task that Kant assigns to the Critique of Judgement. In this perspective, the central thesis is that aesthetic purposiveness involves a new concept of nature; and that this new concept, insofar it is in the constituent base of a kind of feeling (the feeling of the beautiful), which is related to the moral feeling, provides to the practical reason an indication of the concordance between sensible nature and morality. In this way, taste arises, on the grounds of aesthetic purposiveness, as the “middle link” in the chain of a priori human faculties and, in this sense, as the faculty where theoretical reason and practical reason reconcile themselves. Key words: Kant, aesthetic purposiveness, moral feeling, interest in the beautiful, analogy, middle link.
