Abstract Facing the so called culture of post divorce which has been installed for the last 40 years in family lives of the Western World, it might be better to strengthen the role of social workers and that of the members of the family themselves, instead of looking for the shelter of judiciary appeal. The Family Gathering Conferences (FGC, a sort of Family meetings proposals) seems to be the most democratic and efficient institution in order to achieve the support of the weakest amongst the families. The Social worker is able to encounter his best formal and suitable place for his/her task in these FGC, to deal with the vulnerability and resilience of the present day family contexts. Key words: family, divorce, social worker, vulnerability, resilience, FGC.
