La trascendencia pedagógica de un viejo imperativo
The pedagogic significance of an old empire
ABSTRACT: This article is a study of the famous Pindaric imperative, trying to overcome the paradoxes that lends its popular formulation, explaining how further philosophical findings explain the possibility of such a paradoxical formulation, and explaining the pedagogical wisdom, philosophical and ethical that its drastic formulation contains. It seeks to show that this imperative is especially relevant, precisely because it emphasizes two anthropological aspects without which all educational efforts would be futile: the growth capacity inherent in human beings, and that this capacity implies also, the use of freedom, so that the educational work can be summarized, using a happy expression of Professor José María Barrio, as an effort to «enable the freedom to perceive the call of the valuable.» Keywords: Pindar, being, potency, analogy, freedom, virtue, growth, education.
