SOBRE EL ORIGEN DE LA RELIGIÓN. PAUL TILLICH Y XAVIER ZUBIRI
THE ORIGIN OF RELIGION: PAUL TILLICH AND XAVIER ZUBIRI
Abstract: What are the causes of the religious phenomenon?. The ignorance of nature’s laws (A. Comte), the social injustices (K. Marx) or Oedipus complex (S. Freud)? ¿Why not consider that it might be because the religious man due to its personal condition is open to the infinite? This is how authors like, P. Tillich and X. Zubiri think. Both of these thinkers agree in the correlative method between questions and answers and in the need of a previous theological experience that enables the question of God. P. Tillich names this experience as “profound dimension” while X. Zubiri calls it “religation to the power of the real”. The diverse historical forms of religion, including atheism, agnosticism, and the unworried aspect concerning religion that man faces today, are all trends that are related with the experience of profoundity or of religation. Key words. Origins of religion, theological experience, profound dimension, religation, A. Comte, K. Marx, S. Freud, L. Feuerbach, P. Tillich, X. Zubiri.
