THE MYTHICAL BACKGROUND OF REASON Abstract: To approach the question of the mythic background of enlightened reason is, at last, to get into one the most protected prejudices in the West Word. The predominant power of Western Reason, in all its different versions, makes the critical reflection about the reductionisms of this vision very difficult to attend. This way, to philosophise has been frequently distinguished from no-philosophise with a cultural judgement which, sometimes, has been considered as racist. But we raise a different perspective. The enlightened approach is established upon the mythical background of Man and Reality. The end of this work is double: to introduce, concisely, the limitations of our current culture which has been privatized by Reason and to open the debate about rationality which does not set relegate other perspectives to the field of insignificance. Keywords: enlightened prejudice, enlightened reason, intercultural, intercultural reason, myth, mythic background, rationality.
