MORAL CONSCIENCE: BETWEEN NATURE AND AUTONOMY Abstract: The 21st Century is facing the enlightened challenge of elucidating if morality is a specific field of action, counting, now, on scientific and philosophical advances acquired since the 18th Century. Two positions continue to enjoy special relevance, naturalism and transcendentalism, but the former provokes greater agreement. The article focuses on moral conscience, and purports to discover if the current naturalism of the Hume-Darwin line is sufficient to justify the normative nature of moral conscience, or if it is necessary to resort to an unconditional self-obligation concept, which is discovered via transcendental reflection, as shown by Kant. Keywords: conscience, ethics, evolutionism, nature, politics, transcendentalism.
