La mayoría de los estudiantes están motivados y viven en un entorno de apoyo, incluyendo comunidades académicas en las que aprender ciertas responsabilidades y obtener cierta independencia que les ayude a alcanzar el éxito en su vida profesional y personal. Estos centros han sido muy exitosos en Gran Bretaña sobre todo por la comunidad asiática de alto poder adquisitivo que suelen enviar a sus hijos a Europa para mejorar su educación. Los centros suelen dividir a los alumnos de las alumnas. Es el caso de la mayoría de escuelas-internado de Oxford. Es en ésta ciudad donde nos hemos basado para entrevistar a una profesora de lengua española que trabaja en un centro prestigioso y que comenta las dificultades que las alumnas provenientes de Hong Kong suelen tener para adaptarse al centro en general y al país en particular. Sus reflexiones aparecen en este artículo aunque se ha mantenido la privacidad del centro. Palabras clave: Internados, estudiantes, alumnas asiáticas, expectativas. ABSTRACT: Boarding schools today are very different from what used to be. Most students are motivated and live in a supportive environment, including academic communities in which they learn some responsibility and gain some independence to help them succeed in their professional and personal life. These centers have been very successful in Britain especially for the rich Asian community. They often send their children to Europe to improve their education. The centers tend to divide the students in female and male. This is the case of most boarding schools of Oxford. It is in this city where we have used to interview a Spanish language teacher working at a prestigious and discusses the difficulties that the students from Hong Kong often have to adapt to the school and the country. We reflect in this paper the reflections from the teacher, but we have remained the privacy of the center. Key Words: Boarding schools, students, asian students, expectation. 51
