La omnipotencia en Hobbes (1588-1628): El carácter irrevocable de la potencia absoluta
Resumen. Este trabajo se centra en cómo Hobbes entiende la Omnipotencia de Dios. Una vez examinadas las razones que aportan quienes le califican de ateo, y a la luz de los textos, se aprecia cómo la omnipotencia del Absoluto tiene en Hobbes una importancia singular. Omnipotencia que se encuentra sustentada por una metafísica singular en la que el contenido de los términos: posibilidad, necesidad, eficiencia, finalidad, así como la relación que establece entre filosofía y teología conducen a un planteamiento secularizado que tendrá una gran repercusión en la filosofía de su época. Su relación con Descartes, Leibniz y Spinoza pone de manifiesto la originalidad de su pensamiento, y señalará el camino que recorrerán los filósofos ilustrados del XVIII. Abstract: This piece of research focuses on how Hobbes understands the Omnipotence of God. After examining the reasons that people provide to call Hobbes an atheist, and in light of his texts, we see how the Omnipotence of the Absolute has a special significance in him. This Omnipotence is sustained by an original metaphysics in which the content of the concepts: possibility, necessity, efficiency, purpose, as well as the relation that it establishes between philosophy and theology lead to a secularized approach that will have a major impact in the philosophy of his time. His connection with Descartes, Leibniz and Spinoza shows the originality of his thinking, thinking which will open the way that the enlightened philosophers of the XVIII century will cover.
