Xavier Zubiri and the Relationship Philosophy-Theology Abstract:The article analyzes the central character of the relationship between Philosophy and Theology in Zubiri. It underlines his creativity, when his thought relies upon his formation in the theological renewal previous to the Vatican II and upon his own philosophical intuitions. Sometimes that creativity is braked by interferences from the theological censorship and the incomplete integration of posconciliar theology (that he mainly receives through some o his disciples). Its case helps to radically put the general problem, postulating that the contribution of the philosophy shall not be reduced to an apologetic support of the inherited theological concepts, but to a creative contribution to the “construction” of new concepts with a capacity to locate the understanding of the faith within the cultural paradigm initiated with Modernity. Key words: Zubiri, Amor Ruibal, religación, faith-theology, Modernism, Vatican II, theological concepts, maieutics, revelation, religious reason, “Galot’s and Morel’s syndrom”, “pretty theologies”.
